  1. Development history:

      - 26/03/2006: Maxillofacial, Plastic and Aesthetic Surgery Department was established. 

      - Since 8/2007: Department has its own inpatient treatment area. 

      - 2010: Joined and became a part of Orthopedics and Trauma Surgery Institute. 

  1. Missions, duties:

      With the attention and direction of Party Committee and Board of Directors, and the close coordination with others departments in the hospital, department has always sought to overcome difficulties, promote strengths to perform well. 7 functions and tasks assigned by MOH and hospital: medical examination and treatment, training, scientific research, directing, international cooperation, preventive medicine and economic management.

  1. Achievement:

      Professional work: Over the past 15 years, department has examined and treated emergency surgery and has planned many trauma cases and facial pathologies, deployed many advanced techniques: emergency micro-surgery to connect dissection extremities, operate to restore and reconstruct body parts after injury and after cancer, cranial aesthetic surgery, operate to treat hemangiomas, vascular malformations ... The number of patients coming to examination and treatment increasing day by day.

       Department implemented high-tech techniques and achieved encouraging achievements: Successfully connected scalp, broken ear rim, broken nose (for the first time in Vietnam) by microsurgical technique. Surgical arm plexus in adults and children. Collaborate with Neurosurgery Department for patients with large facial tumors and one-stroke shaping with autologous skull bone. Applying endoscopic techniques in cranial shaping surgery and facial trauma. Applying endoscopic technique in laparoscopy, covering or shaping large defects in thoracic, abdomen. Applying advanced endoscopic techniques in cosmetic surgery for eyelids, nose, chest, abdomen…. Applying advanced techniques in diagnosis and treatment of vascular abnormalities.

      Training and direction: Support for lower level hospitals, participating in Project 1816 of MOH. Postgraduate training: Coordinating with Training and Direction of Healthcare Activities Center to organize basic Plastic and Maxillofacial Surgery courses for surgeons and molar.

      International cooperation: Cooperate, experience exchange, technical transferring with experts come from US, UK, France, Taiwan, South Korea, Japan …

      Scientific research: Participating in State-level topics of connecting severed extremities by micro-surgery. Participated in writing book of "Surgery" published in 2013. Won many awards at Hanoi medical youth innovation conference, domestic and international conferences. In addition, department has carried out many grassroots-level projects, scientific reports in hospital and domestic and foreign conferences, and are highly appreciated by colleagues. Many articles have been published in specialized scientific journals at home and abroad (more than 80 articles).

       - Developing and improving treatment quality: Renewing working style; applying advanced and high-tech techniques in healthcare and treatment for patients; Development of leading techniques:

       - Strengthen staff training: University, graduate, domestic and foreign. Basic and in-depth Aesthetic - Maxillofacial courses are offered.

        - Expand cooperation for development, exchange of knowledge and technology transfer with domestic and foreign experts.

        - Promote scientific research, and application of advanced techniques and methods: Face transplant surgery, chiropractic surgery, Robot laparoscopic surgery...
