National Traffic Safety Committee (NTSC) visited and gave presents to the poor patients injured by road traffic accident treated at Viet Duc University Hospital (VDUH).

In the morning of January 28th, 2020, Vice President in charge of NTSC – Mr Khuat Viet Hung lead the mission of NTSC to visit and to greet the new year to physicians and health staff of VDUH, and also met and gave presents to the poor patients injured by traffic accident.

Mr Nguyen Trong Khoa – Deputy Head of Agency of Medical Service Administration – Ministry of Health also joined the NTSC delegation.

 

Ass. Prof. Tran Dinh Tho- Vice Director and Heads of relevant departments and centers of VDUH participated in the meeting.

Vice President in charge of NTSC – Mr Khuat Viet Hung thanked and highly appreciated the efforts of all physicians.

On behalf of the delegation, Vice President in charge of NTSC – Mr Khuat Viet Hung thanked and highly appreciated the efforts of all physicians in all country in general, especially physicians and health staff of VDUH in particular, who paid efforts through day and night, while all other Vietnameses are gathering with their families during the New Year festival.

 

 Mr Khuat Viet Hung said, from the 1st to the 27th of January, 2020, 640 traffic accidents happened in whole country, caused 470 deaths and 363 injured cases. On average, there are 17,4 deaths per day, reduced 3,5 deaths/day as comparison with the same period last year (average 20,9 deaths/day). However, in 5 days of the New Year Holidays, there are only reductions in the number of traffic accidents and serious cases, number of deaths increased as respective comparison with last year.

 

According to NTSC, after 5 days of the New Year Holidays, there were 138 traffic accident in the whole country, caused 102 deaths, 108 injured cases. Respective comparison with last year, number of traffic accidents reduced 13 cases (reduced by 8,6%), increased 12 deaths (increased 13,3%), reduced 32 injured cases (reduced 22,8%).

 

 The number of deaths by traffic accident in these day increased by above 12% in comparison with last year. Especially, the number on January 24th, 2020 increased 6 deaths (by 35%), on January 26th, 2020 increased 7 deaths (by 47%), and increased 3 deaths (by 18,7%) on the next day.

 

 Mr. Nguyen Trong Khoa, Deputy Head of Agency of Medical Services Administration (Ministry of Health) said, during the holidays, Health facilities in the whole country received and treated for 20.300 emergency cases causing by traffic accidents. This number reduced 4.000 cases as respectively compared with last year. Only those serious injured cases needed to be transferred to higher levels such as VDUH, Bach Mai Hospital, Cho Ray Hospital…

On behalf of VDUH’s Director Board, Ass. Prof. Tran Dinh Tho – Vice Director of expressed sincere thanks to NTSC for paying attention to all health staff and inpatients at VDUH. He said: During this New Year Holidays, VDUH has deployed enough physicians and health staff at all departments as well as prepared appropriate equipment, medication to respond in emergency cases transferred to the hospital. He informed to the delegation : 304 traffic accident cases were transferred to VDUH in emergency, reduced 21 cases in comparison with last year. All operations on emergency related to traffic accident were checked alcohol test and there were 21/204 cases  positive with blood alcohol concentration (BAC).

In the 4th day of the New Year (January 28th, 2020), NTSC delegation visited physicians on duty and patients at VDUH’s Emergency Department and Intensive Care Department; gave presents to relatives of 11 poor patients due to traffic accidents.
