16-year-old teenager ruptured his testicles from a collision while playing volleyball

While playing volleyball, a 16 year old teenager was suddenly hit by a teammate’s knee, resulting in his testicles injury.

 

On January 22, doctors of Viet Duc University Hospital had received one male patient P.K.H. (16 years old from Hung Yen province) admitted with painful swelling of the right scrotum due to sports injury. Patient said that while playing volleyball and fighting the ball in the air, he was suddenly hit by his teammate’s knee in his sensitive area, causing pain.

 

Doctor Nguyen Duy Khanh, Andrology Center, Viet Duc University Hospital said the patient was alert, stable hemodynamic when arriving with  his right scrotum stretched, painful, changed to black purple in the right groin. Ultrasound on emergency showed the signs of right testicle rupture such as disconnected white ligament; contusion of soft tissues surrounding. During the surgery, doctors found that the right testicle was ruptured enlargement in the center, contusion in 60% of the parenchyma.

 

Doctors have removed hematoma, debridement of parenchyma contusion, in preserving the testicle. Currently in 2 nd day after surgery, the patient is stable. Due to severe trauma, it is expected that 7-10 days after surgery, the patient can be discharged from the hospital.

 

Doctor Khanh also recommended that in addition to the martial arts of direct confrontation, with the usual sports such as badminton, rugby, football, volleyball … men also need to wear protective gear to protect them well for “penis”, to avoid sensitive trauma. In case of unfortunate injury, the patient needs to see and treat timely at well -known male health centers.
