Coronary artery disease is the most common and the leading cause of death among cardiovascular pathologies all over the world.
Ass. Prof. Nguyen Huu Uoc – Director of Thoracic and Cardiovascular Center said: “The most common symptom of coronary artery disease is attacks of chest pain and respiratory difficulties. In some cases, patients might present arterial hypertension, tardy-cardia. For women, chest pain is less common but patients often present anorexia, fatigue, heartburn, nausea, back pain, jaw pain… However, many coronary artery cases are asymptomatic, also known as silent myocardial ischemia. Disease progresses silently without any warning sign. It is especially dangerous because the patient does not recognize his / her health condition timely for proper treatment until myocardial infarction occurs. This is already too late for any preventive action.
Once being with coronary artery disease, the greatest risk for the patient is acute myocardial infarction that might be life-threatening at any time. Without proper control of coronary artery disease, risks of heart failure, arrhythmia is unavoidable. It does not only affect patient’s health but also be economically costly during treatment, so, people should be concerned of their health status in order to be able to detect any abnormal sign or symptom for proper consultation and timely treatment.
