Since the first laparoscopic cholecystectomy in 1992, laparoscopy has rapidly developed with many miracles in surgical science with new techniques such as single-port laparoscopy, natural orifice transluminal endoscopic surgery, 3D laparoscopy, robotic laparoscopic surgery…
In Vietnam, laparoscopy has such a fast-paced, outstanding progression that could reach the international level. These achievements were affirmed at the VAES & VSS National Conference over two days from 11th to 12th October 2019 in Nghe An province.
According to Prof. Tran Binh Giang, Director of Viet Duc University Hospital, President of VAES and VSS, this national conference is an annual reputable scientific forum facilitating the exchange and sharing of experience from nearly 1,000 domestic and international attendants including professors, physicians, nurses and other colleagues, managers in medical fields, leaders from civil and military medical facilities with nearly 300 presentations of 250 selected speakers about surgery and laparoscopy in 7 halls with 9 thematic sessions.
“Through periodical conference, scientific quality of presentations has improved and focused on update specialized fields such as robotic surgery, advanced laparoscopy, modern interventional techniques.” said Prof. Tran Binh Giang.
Continuing the tradition from the past, VAES & VSS national conference 2019 was held with multiple specialties including digestive, hepato-biliary, spinal, orthopedic, urologic, obstetric, pediatric, cardiovascular surgery and nursing care.
Series of laparoscopic interventions in the field of digestive, hepato-biliary, spinal, urologic, obstetric and transplantation surgery were broadcast live for all the attendants to exchange and to share experience. In particular, this time, transplantation specialty has a separated session with professional presentations from specialists and one live of kidney transplantation transmitted from Viet Duc University Hospital to the conference hall with 3D technique.
As achievement of modern science and technology that has been applied since 1990s in Vietnam, through nearly 30 years of development, laparoscopy has brought a revolution in surgery.
Since the first laparoscopic cholecystectomy in 1992, laparoscopy has rapidly developed and brought miracles to surgery with new techniques such as: single-port laparoscopy, natural orifice transluminal endoscopic surgery, 3D laparoscopy, robotic laparoscopy… contributing to the improvement of the quality of care, affirming the global position of Vietnamese surgery in particular and medical science in general and bringing a lot of benefits to patients.
VAES & VSS national conference 2019 is a scientific forum where Vietnamese leading experts published results of researches, exchanged and shared experience. This is also the guidance to the development of surgery in order to optimize patients’ benefits according to the patient-centered philosophy.
