On 9th October, according to Viet Duc University Hospital, doctors have performed a successful emergency treatment for a foreign male patient who suffered from testicular torsion due to testicular cyst.

The patient came to the hospital with the pain on left scrotum. While checking the patient, the doctors found the painful and swelling scrotum, an abnormal scrotum located under the testicle. The ultrasound result showed his left testicular perfusion is reduced, epididymis cyst size was 31x25mm.

Ass. Prof. Nguyen Quang – Director of Andrology Center, said testicular torsion is a common fulminant emergency surgical that if not timely treated then may have to remove the testicles and affect the fertility of men. The cause is usually due to abnormalities of the scrotum ligament.

Ass. Prof. Quang said if this foreign male patient has testicular torsion caused by untreated epididymal cysts, he may have testicular ischemia and need to remove his testicle.

Doctors conducted emergency surgery for the patient. During the surgery, patient’s testicles turn halfway down the head, the cyst of epididymis bleeds backwards, causing the testicles to decrease perfusion.

Doctors have preserved right testicle, returned testis to normal axis, removed testicular cyst, and finally fixed testicles. After the surgery patient did not get any pain and back to his normal life. He is currently stable and discharged.
