Clean, cool, and green hospital like a park

According to survey results satisfaction index of patients in 2018, the proportion of patients satisfied with hospital toilets increased from 3.58 to 3.72 points in a scale of 5. The Ministry of Health said, after 3 years of implementing the Plan of implementing green – clean – beautiful health facilities, 95% of hospitals reached good and fair levels.

As well as those hospitals invested billions each year for purchasing and caring green trees in the examination and treatment area , Vietnam – Sweden Uong Bi Hospital (a hospital under the Ministry of Health works in a province of Quang Ninh) has held the patients come for treatment in peace of mind. Three years ago, the National Hospital of Endocrinology was chosen by the Ministry of Health as a trial unit of green-clean-beautiful model. Up to now, many hospitals across the country have been working towards improving the condition of latrines for patients.

 

At hospitals like Bach Mai, VietDuc University Hospital, E, Hue Central … toilets are cleaner as well, even equipped with induction washing hands faucets, hand dryers. Sanitation staff not only “tour” around the corridor but also on duty cleaning to ensure the patients’ toilets are odorless. In addition to cleaning, medical employees also remind and instruct patients and their family members to keep hygiene, wash disinfectant hands after going to the toilet.

 

Not only at central, provincial and district hospitals, many hospitals also invest heavily in green – clean – beautiful – friendly construction. At Hai Hau General Hospital (Nam Dinh), a green color covers the campus of more than 40,000m2. Not only in the medical examination and treatment area, the hospital also built a fountain, an ecological area including a lotus lake, many green trees, and fruit trees … very airy. In front of the examination area, or the hall of departments, the chair rows are neatly arranged, clean with a cooling fan system to serve the people. Hand washing sinks to ensure hygiene, avoid hospital infections, are equipped in all corridors and departments…

 

Hospitals no longer have “typical smell”.

 

Health Minister Nguyen Thi Kim Tien said, when inspecting hospitals she always has the habit of going to toilets to check because small details will determine the quality of the medical facility, decide about patients care from the smallest detail. “The smallest, but it shows the appearance of hospital, the care for patients from the most essential daily activities. The toilets are clean, certainly the rooms and departments are clean” minister said. Therefore, the head of medical field also requires, the criteria for clean toilets is an important point when evaluating hospital quality. “It is impossible to keep the condition of dirty toilets and still achieve a high hospital quality score,” Minister of Health instructed.

 

Minister Nguyen Thi Kim Tien said hospital toilets are becoming cleaner and no longer have the “typical smell” as before. In addition to ensuring toilet paper, hand washing soap, and cleaning toilet floors, many hospitals also put more decorative greenery. “Especially in hospital, ensuring the issue of clean toilets,  beds, rooms and hands will contribute to ensuring the safety of patients, reducing the risk of hospital infections, going to treatment then again get disease ” said the Minister of Health.

Compared to 2017, the percentage of hospitals rated green – clean – nice type in 2018 increased by nearly 12%.

 

In many hospitals, leaders clearly identify health facilities that want to improve the quality of medical examination and treatment towards the satisfaction of patients must be associated with preserving and protecting the environment. “Our medical employees are attached to the hospital space every day, the green – clean – beautiful hospital creates satisfaction for patients but employees firstly benefit from this green space.” Dr. Phan Huong Duong – PhD, Vice director of National Hospital of Endocrinology agrees.

 

Hence, at National Hospital of Endocrinology, from the number of trees in early 2017 with 279 trees, reaching 69.75% (including indoor plants), by the end of that year which had nearly 400 trees, reaching more than 91% according to the greenery plan, reaching maximum score of 15/15 on green content. Adding greenery in hospital plan is always focused within the operation plans at this hospital which famous of treatment quality.
