Viet Duc University hospital is ready to response to novel coronavirus (COVID-19) dpidemic

COVID-19, an acute respiratory disease due to novel coronavirus which was firstly detected at Wuhan, Hubei, China in December 2019. Up to now, the epidemic spreads out to many cities in China. 30 countries/territories in the world are effecting by Covid-19.

 

Update news at 6 am on February 20th, 2020 (Hanoi time): there are 75,305 reported cases, 2,014 deaths in over the world. In Vietnam, there were 16 cases positive with COVID-19, 1,167 cases were negative with COVID-19 test and 15 cases were fully recovered and discharged.

 

Viet Duc University Hospital (VDUH) is a surgical hospital at outstanding level, a terminal surgical center of the whole country, thus it is not the one in the first hospital listed to receive and treat for any suspected or COVID-19 cases. Until now, there are no suspected or positive case to visit or treat at VDUH.

 

However, due to serious epidemic situation, according to the Decree No. 05/CT-TTg dated on January 28th, 2020 of Prime Minister on COVID-19 prevention as well as direction documents of Ministry of Health related to its prevention, although VDUH is not assigned as a hospital to receive and treat for patient positive with COVID-19  but at VDUH, all activities on preventing are well prepared and conducted.

 

Director Board of VDUH seriously acknowledged of a dangerous, complicated situation of the epidemic and required all health staff, employees should use preventive measures to protect their own health and the community. Through online portal, VDUH also usually updated all direction documents, information on the epidemic to all health staff, patients and their relatives.

 

Prof. Tran Binh Giang – Director of VDUH directed to cooperate closely with National Tropical Disease Hospital to send suspected COVID-19 patients for consultation and treatment in following cases:

 

– Patient visited VDUH for consultation without surgical disease or with surgical disease but not required immediate operation.

 

– With suspected COVID-19 patient with surgical disease required operation on emergency, VDUH is ready to cooperate with National Tropical Disease Hospital to consult for safe and effective treatment.

 

VDUH has prepared all facilities, chemical products, medical equipment and is ready to implement preventions. The Hospital has already arranged a isolated consultation if any suspected COVID-19 case find out. This area is well provided all necessary medical equipment and medication in case surgical patient with suspected or positive COVID-19 should be admitted. The Hospital also prepared a special ambulance car which is ready to use for patient transferal. Meanwhile, the hospital emergency hotline is always opened 24/7 to immediate receive all information related to this epidemic.

So far, even there is no record of positive COVID-19 but with well preparation, clear mission assignment and synchronized solutions of medical professionals, medicine and drug, equipment, media, VDUH is ready to response to situations that may occur in this epidemic.
