Online Memorandum of Understanding – MOU signing ceremony between Viet Duc University Hospital and Saxion University

On September 21, 2020, after a period of discussion and negotiation, Viet Duc University Hospital and Saxion University (Netherlands) decided to sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) as a premise for future bilateral development cooperation opportunities. The signing ceremony is organized solemnly in online form.
For a longtime, Netherlands has known as a country with an advanced education system in Europe, especially the applied sciences majors are taught at top universities. Outstanding among them, Saxion University is known for its 150-year long history, affirming its position with a large number of international students coming to study and research at this school. Therefore, Viet Duc University Hospital has agreed to cooperate with Saxion University – an important partner in the medical field.
Viet Duc University Hospital has a history of more than 110 years of establishment and development, a special-class surgical hospital with a team of experts who are professors, associate professors, and doctors with high expertise, take care devotedly of patients. Among them, some staff have the opportunity to visit Netherlands, study at Saxion University and currently hold important position at the hospital. Through the process of careful negotiation and exchange between the two leaders, Viet Duc University Hospital and Saxion University chose September 21, 2020 as the date of signing Memorandum of Understanding, the foundation promotes bilateral cooperation in the future.
This special event is held when topics related to Covid-19 are still of interest from all over the world. Even though Viet Duc University Hospital has not had the opportunity to meet and work directly with the leadership represents Saxion University at this ceremony because of Covid-19 effect, but with the support of modern devices and high technology, the representatives of the hospital were able to talk easily and very quickly with Saxion University’s partners.
Prof. Tran Binh Giang, MD, PhD – Director of Viet Duc University Hospital said: The signing ceremony for the first time is held in a very special online form. Although the distance of two countries is up to 11,000 km, we still feel very close to each other and this is a memorable event in the international cooperation of Viet Duc University Hospital in 2020.
The ceremony took place extremely solemn and special in strengthening diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Netherlands with the participation of Mr. Pham Viet Anh – Ambassador of Vietnam to Netherlands and Ms. Elsbeth Akkerman – Netherlands Ambassador to Vietnam. This event opened up opportunities to work together in the future: Viet Duc University Hospital is a training facility of Hanoi Medical University, where training people will contribute for Vietnam medical ground. This partnership with Saxion University will be a good opportunity for doctors and medical staff at the hospital to attend courses and conduct research in Netherlands to improve their specialties. On the other hand, Viet Duc University Hospital is also happy to welcome Saxion University students for doing clerkship and exchange experiences.
Speaking at the ceremony, Ms. Elsbeth Akkerman – Netherlands Ambassador to Vietnam shares: “It’s my pleasure to join you this afternoon for the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding between Viet Duc University Hospital and Saxion University, both institutes with a good and longstanding reputation focusing their activities on two fundamental pillars of society: education and health. What became very evident in the past 9 months is the importance of education and healthcare. If COVID-19 brought anything positive, it would be the higher respect and for teachers and healthcare workers, schools, universities, medical centers and hospitals are working day and night to win the pandemic. The fact that Saxion University and Viet Duc University Hospital team up today in the area of physiotherapy and nursing, joint research and the exchange of students is excellent in that context: a wise and worthwhile decision. I hope Saxion University and Viet Duv University Hospital will soon deploy activities early next year. Once again, congratulation.”
After the signing ceremony, Prof. Tran Binh Giang, MD, PhD – Director of Viet Duc University Hospital had invited Ms. Elsbeth Akkerman – Netherlands Ambassador to Vietnam to have a field trip, and learn more about hospital’s long history at Traditional Room. The ceremony has completed successfully, leaving good feelings.
