Medical staff promptly donated blood to save patient’s life from a critical condition

Viet Duc University Hospital is a special first-class surgical hospital in Vietnam, which performs over 70000 operations each year, mainly with multiple injuries and complicated injuries, so blood use is very important issue. However, the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic has caused a serious shortage of blood reserves for emergency cares and treatment at all medical facilities.
Over last years, donating blood to save lives has become a regular activity for many health staff of Viet Duc University Hospital. They have participated in blood donation dozens of times and are ready to be a “living blood store” to promptly save patients through critical illness.
On July 27, 2021, Viet Duc University Hospital received one patient, namely N.N.H (18 years old, native of Thanh Mien, Hai Duong) admitted to the hospital due to multiple injuries, needed blood for urgent surgery, unfortunately the hospital didn’t have good enough blood for emergency operation. Additionally, his family members have already donated blood before, so they can’t continue to donate blood any more. In that critical situation, three staff of the Emergency Department Mr. Tran Van Chanh, Mr. Nguyen Manh Hien, and Mr. Ho Van Quyen, did not hesitate, volunteered to donate blood to help H for undergoing surgery. All took place expeditiously at the hospital’s Blood Transfusion Center. Thanks to a timely blood transfusion, H was operated on by experts of Viet Duc University Hospital and overcame a critical condition, his health is gradually recovering.
Every moment there are people in critical condition and needed blood to overcome “Within an inch of one’ life” situation. Whether rich or poor, you always have the most valuable resource that is health and love for others. Therefore, don’t hesitate to donate blood, donate blood from the heart to bring invaluable life to the community.
