Viet Duc University Hospital supports Ho Chi Minh City in fighting against COVID-19

Responding the appeal of the Ministry of Health, and in order to strengthen the ability of treatment of severe COVID-19 patients in Ho Chi Minh City, Viet Duc University Hospital has deployed the doctors and nurses to support the South. Immediately, hundreds of doctors and health staff volunteered to go, not only because of their sense of responsibility, but also because of the orders from their hearts.
Viet Duc University Hospital has determined to support the South to fight the pandemic, and looks forward to having day of victory.

On August 2nd , the delegates of Viet Duc University Hospital, consisting of 16 members led by Assoc. Prof. Dong Van He – Vice Director of Viet Duc University Hospital has checked the infrastructure of the Field Hospital No.13.
Field Hospital No. 13 was urgently built to be in use soon.
The equipment for the field hospital was transferred to Hanoi Station on the night of August 3rd to catch the train to Ho Chi Minh City at 6 a.m. on August 4th.
Because the ambulances are not big enough to arrange nearly 10 tons of equipment, therefore the hospital medical staff have mobilized themselves the equipment from the hospital to the Hanoi Station to catch the train timetable. When the transport was completed, Hanoi was quiet, already 23:00, but everyone was so happy because they were able to complete the duty, so that the train could start rolling in the next early morning.
Viet Duc University Hospital deployed an elite team on resuscitation including doctors and nurses who are able to set up and operate the ventilators to care patients as much as possible.

To ensure that medical staff will have the best conditions during their duties, the hospital has prepared all essential supplies, personal protective equipment (PPE), fully vaccinated with 2 doses, and trained supplementing protection techniques for all members involved.
Before going to the South, many doctors and nurses decided to have their hair cut, especially female doctors who also “cut off” their long hair for more convenience to take care of severe Covid-19 patients.

With the spirit of solidarity, joining hands to repel the Covid-19 pandemic, many businesses and units continue to supply medical equipment, materials, protective gear … to accompany the hospital in the fight against this tough and fierce Covid-19 pandemic.
On the afternoon of August 3rd, the charity groups, Soha newspaper, Meiko company have handed over 18 ventilators to the Field Hospital No.13, the representative of Hanoi Viet Duc Hospital – Assoc. Prof. Dong Van He received in Ho Chi Minh City.
On August 5th, more than 300 doctors and nurses from Viet Duc University Hospital departed to Ho Chi Minh City to work in the Field Hospital No.13. All are in good mood, excited and ready to race against time, join hands to join in the fight against the pandemic and to save the Covid-19 patient’s life, hoping that a peaceful life will soon return to the city named Uncle Ho and the beloved country of Vietnam.
