Sharing the difficulties of patients, warming the hearts of patients and their families with free meals and porridge are practical activities organized by benefactors and charity clubs regularly at Viet Duc University Hospital.
As usual, every Wednesday afternoon, Nguyen Linh Trang and her friends in the charity group “Hieu and Thuong” come to Viet Duc University Hospital to distribute free meals to patients with difficult circumstances and their families whom are being treated at the hospital. Sharing about this volunteer activity, Linh Trang said: “We want to contribute a small thing to join hands with patients in overcoming the disease.”
The dormitory area for patients at Viet Duc University Hospital is also a place where benefactors distribute free meals, becoming a familiar address for patients and their family members.
Mr. Nguyen Xuan Quynh, resident in Yen Dung district, Bac Giang province shared: we are very reassured because among them are many people from far away regions who came here to treat their illnesses. Meals like these are brought to patients and their families in a very timely manner, so during the days I stayed at the hospital, I often went down to get charity meals which the charity gives out every day at the hospital.
The community’s concern makes Ms. Trinh Thi Lang, residing in Thach Thanh district, Thanh Hoa province and many other patients feel comforted. “My family doesn’t have many people, we have to save every penny going to the hospital, so the free meals cover a big part of expenses. The benefactors have come to share and encourage patients, and everyone who eats compliments the meals. We are very touched and appreciate everyone’s kindness,” Ms. Lang shared.
Accompanying the volunteer movement of Viet Duc University Hospital, over the years, many charity groups and benefactors have joined hands to help patients with difficult circumstances. Not only charity meals and porridge, many other charitable activities are also being carried out at the hospital such as free rides to bring poor patients back home, calling for support for disadvantaged patients.
Each gift, each care has been, is and will spread the value of love, instill confidence and optimism into the life of poor patients, help them overcome illness and return to the community soon.
