Founded in 2002, based in the UK and coming to Vietnam since 2008, Facing the World (FTW) has brought hope to children with severe congenital facial defects, particularly ones affected by the chemical Agent Orange with many programs to support surgery for craniofacial malformations with more than 14,800 complicated cases with the participation of leading experts. In addition, grants with a total value of up to £2 million give technology and medical equipment to partner hospitals in Vietnam, including Viet Duc University Hospital (VDUH). With this active support, many children with craniofacial defects have received plastic surgery, overcome facial defects and integrate into the community.
As an important partner of VDUH in professional activities, FTW has actively supported the process of preparing documents for the Hospital to be honored as receiver of the global certificate from Royal College of Surgeons (RCS) for facility training. This certificate is proof that the professional training conditions at the Hospital are in line with international standards and is the motivation for the Hospital to continue to strive and develop professional training courses, contributing to the development of the health sector for the cause of people’s health care in Vietnam.
April 27th, 2023 marked an important milestone in the cooperative relationship among VDUH, 108 Central Military Hospital, Hong Ngoc General Hospital and RCS along with FTW, the signing ceremony of the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) took place solemnly in the presence of many distinguished guests.
