Viet Duc University Hospital has organized international nurses day 2023: Our nurses – Our future

Following the direction of the Ministry of Health and the Vietnam Nurses Association for organizing activities to celebrate International Nurses Day, in 2023, the International Nursing Association launched the slogan “Our Nurses, Our Future” “Điều dưỡng của chúng ta – Tương lai của chúng ta” with a hope that the nursing profession in the future will solve global health challenges and improve global health for all, drawing experiences from the lessons learned from the pandemic, turns the good things into actions for the future to ensure nurses are protected, respected and appreciated. Under the guidance of the Association of Vietnam Nurses, the care and direction of Hanoi Nursing Association, especially the close direction of the Party Committee, hospital’s Board of Directors, Viet Duc Nursing Team has excellence completed Nursing Association work at hospital. On May 12, 2023, Viet Duc University Hospital solemnly held the celebration of International Nurses Day – May 12th.
Attending the program were Assoc. Prof. Nguyen Tien Quyet, MD, PhD – Former Director; Prof. Tran Binh Giang, MD, PhD – Former Director; Assoc. Prof. Tran Dinh Tho, MD, PhD – Deputy Director; Assoc. Prof. Nguyen Manh Khanh, MD, PhD – Deputy Director; Mrs. To Thi Dien, BS – Vice President of Association of Vietnam Nurses, Former Head of Nursing Department of Viet Duc University Hospital; Mrs. Vu Thi Hong Ngoc, MS – Vice President of Hanoi Nursing Association; Mrs. Phan Thi Dung, PhD – Chairman of the Vietnam Surgical Nurses Branch of Viet Nam Nurses Association, former Head of Nursing Department of Viet Duc University Hospital with the presence of chief nurses of central hospitals in Hanoi region; Chief nurses, and nurses of the institutes, centers, departments, and divisions in hospital.
Speaking at the program, Assoc. Prof. Tran Dinh Tho, MD, PhD – Deputy Director said: Viet Duc University Hospital is proud to be one of the cradles of Vietnam’s health sector. More than 120 years ago when the hospital was first established, the first “Infirmieres- nurses” at that time were medical school students. There was one native head nurse with a total of less than 10 employees directly working with patients. These are the first nurses of Viet Duc University Hospital and also the pride of many generations of nurses at Viet Duc University Hospital. The nurses, especially the chief nurses, have worked together since the first days of the hospital’s establishment until today, with significant contributions to many hospital activities through the ups and downs of country’s history.
Viet Duc University Hospital is one of the first organization to host the Nightingale lantern procession to celebrate International Nurses Day to encourage the spirit of hospital nurses and help the nurses to be aware of their duties and responsibilities in patient care. Moreover, hospital leaders highly appreciate nursing work, creating all conditions for nurses to study, develop professionally, and participate in career activities. The hospital always pays attention for improving the material and spiritual life of nurses.
At the program, an emotional Talk show was held with the sharing of the ethical standards of nurses by the chairpersons: Assoc. Prof. Nguyen Tien Quyet, MD, PhD – Former Director; Prof. Tran Binh Giang, MD, PhD – Former Director; Mrs. To Thi Dien, BS – Vice President of Association Of Vietnam Nurses, Former Head of Nursing Department of Viet Duc University Hospital.
In the jubilant atmosphere of the International Nurses Day, with the permission of the Party Committee, the Hospital Board of Directors, the Nursing Department in collaboration with the Vietnam Surgical Nurses Branch of Viet Nam Nurses Association and other departments, divisions, and centers to organize competition of “Nursing Impressions of Viet Duc University Hospital”. With extreme excitement, enthusiastic participation, the passion of 96 performances from 29 Clinical and Paraclinical divisions. With the sense of responsibility and fairness of the jury, the results were selected as 11 typical performances that won prizes.
