Delegates of Asan Medical Center of Korea paid business visit at Viet Duc University Hospital

Asan Medical Center (AMC), is a large medical facility in Korea with 2,732 beds, treating an average of 13,857 outpatients and 2,491 inpatients per day with 69,500 complicated surgeries and more than 17,800 international patients every year. The AMC’s outstanding quality and quantity of care has attracted an average of 450 international doctors to participate in AMC’s training program to update advanced medical knowledge and techniques every year.
As part of the activities of the first state visit of Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol to Vietnam, the delegation of Asan Medical Center has visited and worked with the Viet Duc University Hospital on the 23rd June 2023.
Attending the meeting, the representative of Viet Duc University Hospital were Assoc. Dr. Nguyen Manh Khanh – MD, PhD, Deputy Director of the hospital and leaders of General Planning Department, International Cooperation Department and clinical departments such as On-Demand Service Department, Department of Pediatric and Neonatal Surgery, Center of Organ Transplant, Center of Anesthesia & Surgical Intensive Care, Center for Diagnostic Imaging, Department of Maxillofacial, Plastic and Aesthetic Surgery, Nursing Department.
The delegates of AMC included Professor In-Ho Jeon – Director, Ms. Sook Kyung Sung – Head of International Cooperation Department, Ms. Christina Han – Senior Manager and colleagues.
Speaking at the meeting, Assoc.Prof. Nguyen Manh Khanh, MD, PhD- Deputy Director of the hospital emphasized that Viet Duc University Hospital is a special class surgical hospital with an annual number of surgeries up to more than 70,000 cases. In addition for promoting its strengths in professional activities, the hospital always promotes research and academic exchanges with leading universities and hospitals worldwide in many fields. He hopes that this visit would create a premise for a sustainable cooperation in the future so that two sides could develop together in providing opportunities for learning and professional development for medical and nursing staff and providing better health for patients.
Professor In-Ho Jeon, Director of AMC, affirmed that he is willing to share AMC’s globally recognized medical knowledge and expertise in areas such as cancer treatment, organ transplantation, cardiology…; At the same time, he wants to promote cooperation, including professional training for medical staff, and providing treatment to patients whom suffer from serious diseases in Vietnam.
At the end of the visit, the Asan Medical Center delegation had onsite visit to the facilities and exchanged expertise in a number of clinical departments such as Department of Pediatric and Neonatal Surgery, Department of Oncology, Digestive Surgery Department, Center of Anesthesia & Surgical Intensive Care and Center of Organ Transplantation.
The success of the meeting is a milestone for opening a new journey with cooperation activities in training, scientific research and medical examination and treatment that will be implemented in the near future between the two organizations in contributing to closed cooperation and relationship between the two hospitals in particular and between the two countries Vietnam – Korea in general.
