Viet Duc University Hospital surveyed and evaluated the DOHA at Thanh Hoa Provincial General Hospital

In order to support and improve the quality of medical examination and treatment for medical staff at lower-level hospital, and to reduce the overload for upper-level hospitals, recently, a delegation from Viet Duc Univesity Hospital (VDUH) led by Assoc.Prof. Dr. Dong Van He, Deputy Director of Hospital visited and evaluated the DOHA at Thanh Hoa Provincial General Hospital.

Joining the mission were experts from many departments of VDUH to check and evaluate the hospital’s professional activities, ability to apply project 1816, project for remote medical examination and treatment and other training packages in 2023.

At the program, the representative of Thanh Hoa Provincial General Hospital reported the medical examination and treatment activities of Hospital as well as the needs for professional activities: Thanh Hoa Provincial General Hospital was established in 1899, class I, with a scale of 1,200 beds. At the hospital, many cutting-edge techniques have been performed: traumatic brain injury surgery, spinal trauma surgery, vertebral cement injection, low cervical spinal injury surgery; Basic laparoscopic surgery, surgery to remove bile duct stones using fiber-optic  bronchoscope and lithotripsy, pancreatico-duodenectomy, small-sized liver tumor removal, etc. The hospital wishes to receive training and technique transfer from VDUH including: cerebellar pontine surgery, high cervical spinal trauma surgery, laparoscopic disc herniation surgery, endoscopic surgery to remove common bile duct stones;

After the on site survey in the wards, the experts gave the assessment results: Regarding gastroenterology, it is necessary to focus on training young doctors, coordinating between the departments of gastroenterology, oncology and urology. Diagnostic imaging: The hospital has enough human resources to perform the proposed techniques, it is necessary to repair and supplement machinery and equipment, and doctors need to supplement their hands-on knowledge. Spine surgery: Eligible to receive technique transfer. Cardiothoracic: The hospital needs to add more thoracic surgery instrument sets as well as train more anesthesiologists specialized in thoracic surgery. Pediatric surgery: Should coordinate to organize pediatric urogenital surgery  field ….

  Assoc. Prof. Dr. Dong Van He, Deputy Director of VDUH gave a summary: It is recommended that the hospital prioritize having clear human resource development plan, develop necessary techniques, have adequate equipment. It is necessary to ensure the legality in training and practice. Promote hands-on training, avoid lack of direct practical knowledge. Quickly add equipment to serve technicians, especially trained technicians, that need to be deployed in the near future. Investment from local authorities is required in the procurement of equipment. Need to actively participate in the telehealth system and online consultation. On behalf of the delegation, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Dong Van He highly appreciated the results of medical examination and treatment at Thanh Hoa Provincial General Hospital in 2023 and agreed with the proposal to apply for technique transfer packages including the specialties of neurology, spine surgery, diagnostic imaging, gastroenterology, hepatobiliary…
