Announcement of the decision of the minister of health on appointing new director of Viet Duc university hospital

On the morning of August 11, H.E. Dao Hong Lan, Minister of Health has officially awarded the Decision on appointing Dr. Duong Duc Hung to the position of Director of Viet Duc University Hospital.

Attending the ceremony were H.E. Dao Hong Lan – Member of the Party Central Committee – Secretary of the Party Personnel Committee – Minister of Health; Prof. Tran Van Thuan – Member of the Party Personnel Committee – Deputy Minister of Health; Dr. Nguyen Hong Son, PhD – Member of the Party Personnel Committee, Director of the Department of Organization and Personnel, Ministry of Health. For this event, there were also the leaders of the Ministry of Public Security, Hanoi City’s Public Security, Hoan Kiem District People’s Committee, Hoan Kiem District’s Public Security; the former leaders of the hospital over the years, the comrades in the Party Committee, the Executive Committee of the Trade Union, the Executive Committee of the Youth Union and other leaders at the hospital.

Speaking at the ceremony, HE. Dao Hong Lan, Minister of Health emphasized: Viet Duc University Hospital has a long history associated with the history of formation and development of Vietnamese medicine. Up to now, Viet Duc University Hospital has made continuous development, gaining people’s trust and international recognition. The Minister wished that Dr. Duong Duc Hung, PhD, with the new position of Director of Viet Duc University Hospital, would promote the tradition of the hospital being one of the leading hospitals in Vietnamese medicine.

In responding, Dr. Duong Duc Hung, PhD said: taking over the position of Director of Viet Duc University Hospital as return to intimate “home”. Building and developing the hospital is my expectation as well as gratefulness to the place where I used to work from the first days in the surgical field. Emotionally sharing at the ceremony, Dr. Duong Duc Hung, PhD thanked the Minister of Health and the Party Committee of the Ministry of Health for trusting, appointing, and assigning these great tasks and responsibilities. At the same time, he affirmed that he would devote his whole heart, mind, and enthusiasm to Viet Duc University Hospital. Strategies which Viet Duc University Hospital will implement in the coming period is the answer to his promise that the hospital being the leading hospital in the medical industry.

Dr. Duong Duc Hung, PhD was born in 1966, and his original family is from  Huong Khe, Ha Tinh. Before taking on the position of Director of Viet Duc University Hospital, Dr. Duong Duc Hung, PhD has took over the positions such as Secretary of the Party Committee, Chairman of the Management Board of Bach Mai Hospital, Director of the Institute for Medical Assessment, Head of Cardiovascular Surgery Unit, Institute of Cardiology (Bach Mai Hospital). He is one of the outstanding students of Associate Professor Ton That Bach – the leading expert in Cardiovascular and Hepatobiliary Surgery of Vietnam and the world.

For professional practice, Dr. Duong Duc Hung, PhD is known as one of the leading national experts in cardiovascular surgery. He directly performed many surgeries to save the lives of numerous patients with fatal diseases and trained many generations of resident cardiologists, as well as contributed to the development of the specialty of Cardiovascular Surgery in Vietnam.
