Long-term cooperation for mutual development between Viet Duc Friendship Hospital and The First Affiliated Hospital of Guangxi Medical University – China

The First Affiliated Hospital of Guangxi Medical University in China is a well-known international partner of Viet Duc University Hospital. The recent cooperation and professional exchange between the two hospitals has been met with great enthusiasm from doctors and nurses. These opportunities are highly valuable for the medical staff of both hospitals to enhance their knowledge and gain experience from leading hospitals in China. In order to further strengthen the close relationship between these two top medical facilities, Viet Duc University Hospital was honored to welcome a delegation from The First Affiliated Hospital of Guangxi Medical University on October 18, 2023. The meeting was successful and covered topics such as drafting and publishing surgical books, collaborating on training experts in various aspects of surgical diseases, and developing advanced surgical techniques.

The delegates included Prof. Tran Tuan Cuong, Director of the Hospital; Mr. Giang Gia Thu, Head of International Cooperation Department and leading representatives of faculties and departments.

 

Welcoming the delegation from Viet Duc University Hospital were Assoc. Prof.  Nguyen Manh Khanh, MD, PhD – Deputy Director of the Hospital; Dr Bui Trung Nghia, MD, PhD – Head of International Cooperation Department with leaders representing institutes, centers, departments/departments: Institute of Trauma and Orthopaedic Surgery, Organ transplantation center, Cardiovascular and Thoracic Center, Department of Urology Surgery, Department of Pediatric and Neonatal Surgery, General Planning Department, International Cooperation Department…

In 2023, Viet Duc University Hospital and the First Affiliated Hospital of Guangxi Medical University will continue their collaboration in publishing a international book written in English for surgical pathology, as agreed upon during their 2021 online meeting. Both parties also stressed the significance of professional exchange and cooperation in training experts on a range of diseases, including liver transplant surgery in children, surgery for diabetic patients, cardiothoracic surgery, surgical endoscopy, and modern robotic techniques in surgery.

The meeting ended with a sincere promise from the representatives of both hospitals to regularly organize similar exchange activities. This will provide opportunities for learning and honing specialized professional techniques, ultimately improving the quality of patient care in the future.

In the afternoon, Professor Tran Tuan Cuong, Director of the First Affiliated Hospital of Guangxi Medical University has a meeting with Pro. Tran Binh Giang, former Director of Viet Duc University Hospital, Chairman of the Vietnam Association of Surgical and Endoscopic Surgery, and Member of the Executive Committee of the Asia-Pacific Endoscopic Surgery Association.

 

During the meeting, Prof. Tran Binh Giang shared his nice experiences of working with Director Tran Tuan Cuong and expressed his appreciation for the warm and friendly cooperation between the two hospitals. He also highlighted the expertise of the Vietnam Association of Surgical and Endoscopic Surgery and expressed interest in further collaboration in training and development in this field for both countries.
