The Director of Viet Duc University Hospital (VDUH), Prof. Tran Binh Giang said that the information about COVID-19 case comes to the hospital is incorrect.
Talking to a journalist of Dan Tri on May 6, Prof. Tran Binh Giang affirmed that all medical examination and treatment activities at the hospital are still taking place normally. The information that the hospital received a case of COVID-19 is not correct.
Previously, related to the Sunny Club outbreak in Phuc Yen, Vinh Phuc, when a doctor of Phuc Yen Regional General Hospital was confirmed to be infected with COVID-19, VDUH whereby checked carefully owing to the information that a doctor came to this hospital to perform spinal techniques.
However, one hundred percentage doctors in this field did not come to Phuc Yen Regional General Hospital at that time for sure.
Regarding the previous outbreak at the National Hospital for Tropical Diseases –Dong Anh branch, VDUH also received one patient transferred by this hospital with a severe trauma accident, however, this patient later died.
Right after receiving the information about COVID-19 cases at the National Hospital for Tropical Diseases, VDUH isolated the team on duty who provided the emergency care to this patient, although the possibility of infection (if any) was very low because the patient was already intubated and ventilated before being transferred to VDUH.
Prof. Giang shared that this team had been tested and confirmed negative results for SARS-CoV-2. Additionally, the hospital has contacted the local CDC where the patient’s family is living to test and all came back negative.
Therefore, VDUH is currently not at risk of an outbreak, still performing medical examination and treatment as usual. At the same time, the hospital also strengthens control, deploys medical declaration, disinfects, measures body temperature … to detect and prevent the risk of Covid-19 as soon as possible.
