Handing Over Ceremony of Medical Equipment from Thien Nhan and Friends Foundation for Pediatric and Neonatal Surgery Department, Viet Duc University Hospital

On the morning of November 9^th, 2023, the Handing Over Ceremony for Receiving the Medical Equipment from Thien Nhan Foundation and Friends for Pediatric and Neonatal Surgery Department, Viet Duc University Hospital took place successfully in a solemn and intimate atmosphere.

Attending the Ceremony, from the sponsor’s side, there were Mr. Greig Craft – Chairman of the AIP Foundation, founder of Thien Nhan and Friends program; Mr. Roberto De Castro – Senior Surgeon of Thien Nhan and Friends. From Viet Duc University Hospital, many important people were there as Dr. Duong Duc Hung, MD, PhD – Party Committee Secretary, Hospital Director and leaders of Departments/Divisions.

At the ceremony, Thien Nhan and Friends Foundation has handed over to the Pediatric and Neonatal Surgery Department, Viet Duc University Hospital with a Karl Storz cystoscope.

Speaking at the program, Mr. Greig Craft – Chairman of AIP Foundation, founder of Thien Nhan and Friends shared: We are very honored to be here today. We have been collaborating and working together for a long time and it feels like a family. As doctors, everyone has the opportunity to interact with patients and treat them, bringing them back to normal life, we admire that very much. On behalf of Thien Nhan and Friends program, we would like to thank the doctors.

For Viet Duc University Hospital Board’s Directors and pediatric patients as well as their families, Dr. Duong Duc Hung, MD, PhD – Party Committee Secretary and Hospital Director sent his gratitude to the delegates and “Thien Nhan and Friends”  who have accompanied the hospital throughout the past time.

 

 “Before becoming a surgeon, we were also parents. Besides our responsibility to the community and society, we have special affection for our child patients. On the journey to bring joy to children, the hospital always receives good feelings from many organizations in society for helping children reduce physical and mental “deficiencies”. The hospital commits that all support and sponsorship from the Foundation will be used for the right purpose to promote the highest efficiency. Hopefully in the future, the cooperation between the two sides will become increasingly closer, working together to open a brighter future for children.” Dr. Duong Duc Hung, MD, PhD emotionally shared.

On November 4^th, at Viet Duc University Hospital, leading European experts also examined and gave advice on surgical procedures for severe deformities or  multiple deformities that require numerous surgeries and multiple disciplinary specialties such as: Bladder exposed; Neurogenic bladder; Hyperspadias; Common canal for Urethra and Vagina in female children due to the existence of a cloaca; Severe hypospadias defects have been complicated after multiple surgeries. During November 6-9 and November 13-15 ^th, children with severe and multiple deformities who have been screened will also have surgery and appropriate treatment, helping them to integrate with community.

Sharing at the program, Dr. Roberto De Castro said: “I am very honored to meet the Director of Hospital at today’s meeting. When working here, it was so funny and I was very satisfied. During this examination and surgical consultation for children with genitourinary defects, there were many difficult and complicated cases, but up to this moment we are very satisfied because we have achieved many good results, hope to continue to work here and cooperate with the doctors of Pediatric and Neonatal Surgery Department.”
