After a circumcision procedure in a private clinic, patient comes back for bandage each day, however, his foreskin was partially necrotic, gradually blackened and ulcerous.
Viet Duc University Hospital just received a male patient N.V.T., 29 years old, from Thanh Hoa province with a penile necrosis after a circumcision in a private clinic.
Doctors of Andrology Center, Viet Duc University Hospital shared that the patient N.V.T. suffered from a very complicated wound due to a necrosis of both foreskin and glans of penis.
After a circumcision procedure, the patient comes to that private clinic every day for the bandage, however, his foreskin was partially necrotic, gradually blackened and ulcerous. Being fearful, Mr. T. went to Viet Duc University Hospital for consultation and treatment.
Surgeons have performed 2 operations for debridement of necrotic tissues to prevent it develops deeply into the corpus cavernosum penis (without proper intervention, the necrosis might develop larger on the skin and to the deeper tissue such as: corpus cavernosum penis or urethra – patient’s urinary tract). Additionally, surgeons have performed reconstruction of foreskin by a skin graft (using a local skin flap to shape the foreskin and to reshape the necrotic zone). These were complicated procedures requiring a smooth cooperation of all team members as well as support from modern facilities.
Andrology Center received many cases with skin necrotic infection but deep necrosis into corpus cavernosum penis like this case is very rare.
Doctors recommend that all surgical procedures seem to be simple and can be done quickly like circumcision… must strictly follow the principles of surgical asepsis and need to be performed in specialized medical facilities with qualified medical team and modern equipment.
Patient N.V.T. was very lucky to be timely treated on emergency so he keeps his whole penis. Therefore, if there are any abnormal signs, patients must go to the well- known medical facilities for being timely examined and treated./.
