Middle-aged gentlemen in droves going to burn off genital warts in the anal area.

In 2 consecutive weeks, doctors from the Center  of Andrology of Viet Duc University Hospital has received six consecutive cases diagnosed the genital warts aged from 14-50 years old.

 

Dr. Nguyen Duy Khanh,MD,MSc – the Center of Andrology, Viet Duc University Hospital, said that on August 26, 46-year-old male patient D.C.V., residing in Vinh Phuc was admitted to the hospital because of warts in the anal area. That the patient had unprotected sex caused this. Physical examination detected that Mr. V had lesions of wart around the entire anogenital area, and the HPV test result was positive. The patient was removed off the wart around the anal circumference was stable and has been discharged from the hospital, continuing to monitor at home.

 

According to Assoc. Prof. Nguyen Quang, MD, PhD – President of Vietnamese Society for Sexual Medicine, Director of Andrology Center, Viet Duc University Hospital, Head of Department of Urology – Andrology and Sex Medicine, Vietnam National University Hanoi – University of Medicine and Pharmacy: Anogenital warts are one of the most dangerous lesions. Damage caused by HPV can lead to cancer of the oropharynx; anal cancer; cervical cancer; penile cancer. Currently, there is no specific treatment for the disease. However, if detected and treated early, complications and risk of recurrence can be reduced.

 

Within 2 weeks, the Andrology Center, Viet Duc University Hospital has received and treated for 6 cases of genital warts with the age from 14-50 years old. We recommend that people need to get vaccinated against HPV before having sex to prevent dangerous strains of HPV such as types 16 and 18. Having sex with a condom is mandatory to prevent transmission of HPV, HIV, hepatitis B, C, syphilis…
