Permanent Deputy Prime Minister Pham Binh Minh and the delegation of the National Traffic Safety Committee pay visit to Viet Duc University Hospital

On the morning of February 8, HE. Pham Binh Minh, Politburo member, Permanent Deputy Prime Minister, Chairman at National Traffic Safety Committee visited and congratulated Viet Duc University Hospital on the occasion of the traditional New Year. The delegates were Mr. Nguyen Van The – Member of the Party Central Committee, Minister of Transport, Standing Vice Chairmana at National Traffic Safety Committee; Mr. Cao Huy – Vice Chairman of Government Office; Mr. Nguyen Truong Son – Deputy Minister of Health, Mr. Khuat Viet Hung – Executive Vice Chairman at National Traffic Safety Committee.

 

Welcoming the delegates were Prof. Tran Binh Giang – Secretary of Party Committee, Director of Viet Duc University Hospital, Assoc. Prof. Tran Dinh Tho – Vice Director of the hospital, Assoc. Prof.  Dong Van He – Vice Director of the hospital and leaders of Institutes/Centers/Departments of the hospital.

 

Currently, Viet Duc University Hospital is treating more than 2,000 patients, including many patients with traffic accidents. The rate of patients with traffic accidents were hospitalized during last 9 days of the Lunar New Year 2022 accounted for 64.8%, the number of traffic accidents requiring hospitalization due to alcohol consumption remained high (over 18%), including many cases of severe trauma such as brain injury, broken limbs …

 

At the meeting, Permanent Deputy Prime Minister HE. Pham Binh Minh emphasized the five important pillars of road traffic safety: management, secure infrastructure, safe means of transport, participants traffic, timely and effective post-accident response. In particular, the post-accident response and rescue is an important task that contributes to reducing the fatality rate due to traffic accidents. Especially, during the Lunar New Year, team of medical staff is on duty regularly to promptly and quickly handle cases of traffic accidents. However, Permanent Deputy Prime Minister also expressed concern when the rate of traffic accidents related to alcohol consumption is still high. Therefore, the authorities need to strengthen propaganda and education to raise people’s awareness, not to use alcohol before participating in traffic.

Praising and appreciating the sense of responsibility and kindness of the medical staff in the hospital who have not only made efforts to save patients at the hospital but also participated in the frontline for fighting against the Covid-19 pandemic, treating severe and critical Covid-19 patients in Ho Chi Minh City and providing professional support to the Covid-19 treatment hospital in Ba Ria Vung Tau, Permanent Deputy Prime Minister HE.Pham Binh Minh hopes that in the coming time, all medical staff will continue to promote the long-standing tradition of Viet Duc University Hospital in caring and protecting the health of people.

 

Deputy Minister of Health Nguyen Truong Son emphasized the role of medical staff in providing the examination, first aid and treatment to patients hospitalized due to traffic accidents, contributing to reducing the mortality rate.

Mr. Khuat Viet Hung – Executive Vice Chairman at National Traffic Safety Committee said that for many years, the National Traffic Safety Committee has always taken the data reported on traffic accidents at Viet Duc University Hospital as an indicator to assess the general situation. The hospital’s data reflects relatively standard compared to the general situation of the whole country.

 

On behalf of more than 2500 officials and staff of the hospital, Prof. Tran Binh Giang – Secretary of the Party Committee, Director of Viet Duc University  Hospital has expressed his thanks for the concern and encouragement of HE. Pham Binh Minh, Politburo member, Permanent Deputy Prime Minister, Chairman at National Traffic Safety Committee and the delegation.
