Successful surgery for HIV positive patient diagnosed scrotal varicocele

Recently, doctors of Viet Duc University Hospital successfully performed an operation on patient named N.V.N, 20 years old, belong Nung ethnic group, with HIV positive situation.

Dr. Bui Van Quang – Center of Andrology, Viet Duc University Hospital informed: Mr. N. has been infected with HIV since 2 years because he stepped on a needle, one the diagnosis of HIV infection confirmed, he was indicated for ARV therapy. The patient had pain in the left testicle for about 2 years, clinical examination revealed that the left testicular vein was grade III, ultrasound showed 2.4-3.2mm left varicocele with reflux flow when doing the valsava test, semen analysis shows reduced sperm quality.

 

After having consulted with the doctors of the Department of Septic Surgery and Wound care, surgeons of the Center of Andrology indicated the micro surgery for left testicular ligation. The duration of surgery was about 1.5 hours.

 

After surgery, the patient continued the post-operative treatment at the Department of Septic Surgery and Wound care for next 3 days until he was stable and discharged.
