The first patient was discharged from the Covid-19 Intensive Care Center of Viet Duc University Hospital in Ho Chi Minh City

“I don’t know what to say other than words THANKS to the doctors, nurses, and caregivers for helping me overcome panic and fatigue of being infected Covid- 19 to return home healthy. I will never forget the moment when I was hospitalized for Covid treatment and overwhelming joy when I was discharged. I really hope the doctors, nurses will take care of other people could save as many patients as possible. Hope everyone is safe from this Covid- 19 pandemic.” Ms. PTTT, 34 years old, shared when she was discharged from the hospital and to reunite her family after 7 days of hospitalization for Covid-19 treatment at the Covid- 19 Intensive Care Center affiliated the Viet Duc University Hospital which located at Field Hospital No.13 (Binh Hung Commune, Binh Chanh District, Ho Chi Minh City).

According to Dr. Luu Quang Thuy – Deputy Director of Field Hospital No.13, Deputy Director of Anesthesia and Surgical Resuscitation Center of Viet Duc University Hospital information: “At the moment of discharge, Ms.T.’s health was stable, she has free clinical manifestations such as fever, cough, shortness of breath; Her chest x-ray check was normal; liver and kidney function tests were in normal ranges ; Covid PCR test were negative two times after 24-48 hours in a row. After being discharged from the hospital, she will continue to be self-isolated at home for another 14 days as prescribed, monitor the temperature, and take samples for testing twice”.

 

“Up to now (after 10 days of the first Covid patient admitted), the Covid- 19 Intensive Care Center affiliated the Viet Duc University Hospital located in Ho Chi Minh City receives more than 200 patients. In which, there are 20-30 patients who have no symptoms, are being done PCR test to assess. If their health are stable, they could be discharged for home isolation. We will continue to do our best so that more patients can be discharged soon when their health will be met the criteria for home isolation and care” added Dr. Thuy.

 

Medical staff works hard day by day to treat Covid-19 patients with the hope that many patients can be discharged as soon as possible.

 

Since seeing healthy patients, a smile on their lips when being discharged from the hospital, that is the greatest happiness of a doctor. The fight against the Covid-19 pandemic is very fierce, but all of the medical staff are racing against time, working together to treat patients with severe Sars-CoV-2 virus infection.

 

We wish the “white shirt soldiers” in whole country have a lot of health, confidence in the journey to save the sick, repeal the Covid- 19 pandemic so that the peaceful life will return soon.
