Viet Duc College of Medicine and Equipment affiliated to Viet Duc University Hospital: institution for training, research and application of scientific achievements in the field of Health.

Viet Duc College of Medicine and Equipment affiliated to Viet Duc University Hospital was established from the College of Medical Equipment Engineering under Decision N^o. 1211/QD-LDTBXH dated 25/10/2021 of the Minister of Labour – Invalids and Social Affairs and Decision N^o. 5854/QD – BYT dated 24/12/2021 of the Ministry of Health.

 

Forerunner, College of Medical Equipment Engineering was born in 1973 with the original name of Medical Equipment Repairing Technical Workers School under Decision N^o. 320/QD-BYT of the Minister of Health. In 2007, the School was upgraded to Vocational College of Medical Equipment Engineering according to Decision N^o. 265/QD-BLDTBXH dated 18/08/2007 of the Minister of Labour – Invalids and Social Affairs, renamed become College of Medical Equipment Engineering under the provisions of the Law on Vocational Education in Decision N^o. 1300/QD-BLDTBXH of the Minister of Labour, War Invalids and Social Affairs. Over nearly 50 years of construction and development, the College has trained, fostered and granted diplomas and certificates to more than 15000 medical equipment technicians, with 7 majors of formal training in engineering and technology and 4 majors of formal training in medical equipment (medical mechanical devices, medical electronic devices, medical imaging equipment, laboratory equipment at Vocational and College levels). Many people graduated from  school have contributed to the development, quality, and assurance of medical equipment operating effectively and accurately.

 

 

At the Announcement Ceremony of the decision to assign the Principal and Vice – Principal of Viet Duc College of Medicine and Equipment affiliated to Viet Duc University Hospital under Ministry of Health on January 5^th, 2022, Assoc. Prof. Nguyen Manh Khanh , Vice – President of Institute of Orthopedic Trauma, Head of Personnel Department, Viet Duc University Hospital was entrusted with the appointment of Principal of Viet Duc College of Medicine and Equipment, MSc. Tran Thi Hong Tham, Vice – Director of the Center for Training and Direction of Healthcare Activities, Viet Duc University Hospital – Acting Vice – Principal; Mr. Nguyen Huu Tu MA. – Acting Vice – Principal.

 

 

On behalf of the Director’s Board , Assoc. Prof. Nguyen Manh Khanh – Acting Principal of Viet Duc College of Medicine and Equipment emphasized: Viet Duc University Hospital was established in 1906, where the first generations of Vietnamese doctors were trained and then from those precious seeds multiplied everywhere across the country. The hospital deserves to be the cradle of Vietnam’s surgical field along with the names of two famous surgeons Ho Dac Di and Ton That Tung. Over 115 years of establishment and development, Viet Duc University Hospital has grown tremendously to become the leading Special Specialty Hospital in the country. On average, each year, the Hospital examines 262,000 cases, treats 70,000 inpatients, 46,700 outpatients and 70,000 surgeries (including 49,000 type 1 and special operations). The hospital is always at the forefront of developing new techniques and methods, improving the quality of treatment (kidney transplantation, routine liver transplantation from living donors, multi-organ transplantation from brain dead donors…).

 

Viet Duc College of Medical and Equipment, following the model of the Hospital School, will promote the strengths of the Viet Duc University Hospital in terms of modern facilities and equipment as well as team of highly qualified and experienced in teaching doctors, and of the College of Medical Equipment Engineering in the organization of training medical human resources. The school will increase enrollment, open more training codes, and at the same time innovate training programs, contents and methods, linking theoretical training with practice, especially vocational skills, in order to meet the demand for quantity and improve the quality of college-level training of current medical institutions.

The school is located in prime locations: head office: No. 1, lane 89, Luong Dinh Cua str., Dong Da distr., Hanoi; training facility: No. 40 Trang Thi str., Hoan Kiem distr., Hanoi with a total area of ​​over 5 hectares including a system of lecture halls, classrooms, libraries, laboratories, practice areas, simulation model system, and the country’s leading modern and synchronous investment equipment.
